The Plant Ladies

Hi! We are The Plant Ladies.

We are professional gardeners. Horticulturists and garden designers. Women owned and operated. We treat your gardens as we do our own, following science-based planting and care practices, hand-picking all plant material and providing future support through detailed instruction or regular maintenance visits. Your personal gardening solution.

Let's get our hands dirty.

Meet the Ladies

  • Samantha Hill

    Horticulturist

Sam’s natural state is to be head to toe covered in dirt. An obsessive horticulture hobbyist in her own home, she wants to know how plants perform in a landscape to make better choices for yours. She has a Master’s degree in Horticulture Science from The University of Tennessee and is a real plant nerd. She reads plant physiology textbooks for leisure and is immersed in the science behind why we do the things we do in our home gardens. She lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband, fur babies and extensive houseplant collection.

  • Shana Heartsill

    Landscape Designer

Shana can usually be found in her garden when she isn't in yours. A Bluff Park native, Shana knows Southern landscaping better than most. She is a licensed Landscape Designer with over 30 years of experience. Her passion for nature and understanding how plants work keeps her abreast of the latest sound, scientific horticulture practices. Outside of the garden, Shana loves going for hikes, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren.
